Purus Perspective: April 2025

Investment Committee Update

It is no secret that volatility has dominated the markets over the last several weeks. The Purus Investment Committee continues to hold fast with our allocations, taking advantage of opportunities as they present themselves. No doubt these types of volatile markets confirm our long-standing, disciplined approach to investing. In our opinion, the adage that patience is rewarded, and impatience is punished holds especially true in the current environment.

Navigating Market Volatility:

A Guide for Retirement Investors

J.P. Morgan

"Market volatility can make investing feel challenging and even daunting. The ups and downs of the market can be unsettling, especially for those who are new to investing or nearing retirement. However, understanding the nature of market fluctuations and maintaining a long-term perspective can help investors stay the course and achieve their financial goals."

The Dollar Endures: Strength, Stability, and Global Trust

First Trust
"In this week’s installment of 'Three on Thursday,' let’s explore some of the dynamics surrounding the United States dollar. In an era of inflation, massive debt, large deficits, and threats of tariffs, there are persistent rumors circulating that the dollar is at risk of losing its reserve currency status. These rumors are stoked by the desire of China (and others) to see this happen. We think these fears are vastly overblown. The U.S. is not strong because the dollar is the reserve currency, the dollar is the reserve currency because the U.S. is strong. Not just in economic might, but in its governance. The Constitution still stands, along with its protections of private property rights and the rule of law, which have created honest, deep and liquid financial markets. The U.S. remains one of the few places where people risk their lives daily to get into, not out of."

Please Consider Adding a Trusted

Contact to Your Account

SEC (Securities Exchange Commission)
"The SEC's Office of Investor Education and Advocacy and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) are issuing this Investor Bulletin to urge you to consider adding a trusted contact person to your brokerage account. When you open a new retail account or update your account information, your brokerage firm will request that you give them the name and contact information of a trusted contact person. It is not mandatory that you do so - but there are a number of very important reasons to give your broker the name of someone you trust, and the SEC's Office of Investor Education and Advocacy and FINRA urge you to consider the request."
